The second edition of WWE Battleground is scheduled to take place on July 20 in Tampa Bay, Florida. The main event features John Cena defending the World Title in a Fatal-4-Way Match against Randy Orton, Kane and Roman Reigns.
Here are the predictions for the matches listed high on the match card:
Jack Swagger (with Zeb Colter) vs Alexander Rusev (with Lana)
(Singles Match)
Analysis: Rusev is unbeaten since his arrival on the main roster. Swagger’s face turn has resulted in a USA vs Russia storyline. Rusev is expected to win the match and carry on his unbeaten streak. WWE would like to take this feud to the next level and gain Swagger more momentum before ending Rusev’s domination. Some rumors on the Internet claim that Rusev’s unbeaten streak will carry on to WrestleMania, where then he will be challenged by the returning Kurt Angle, the Olympic Gold medalist for the United States.
Winner: Rusev
The Usos (Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso) vs The Wyatt Family (Erick Rowan and Luke Harper)
(2-out-of-3 Falls Tag Team Match for the WWE Tag Team Championship)
Analysis: The Usos have managed to defend their titles for a long time and also put up some good matches defeating top guys in the company. In a normal tag team match, the Usos can be considered as favorites, but in a 2-out-of-3 Falls Tag Team Match, The Wyatt Family have a tremendous advantage and are expected to leave the event with the gold on their waists.
Winner and the new Tag Team Champions: The Wyatt Family (Erick Rowan and Luke Harper)
Bray Wyatt vs Chris Jericho
(Singles Match)
Analysis: Jericho returned on the July 30 edition of Monday Night Raw where he was attacked by the Wyatt Family. Jericho will be touring with his band Fozzy in September, which means he is available with the WWE for a short time. The reason why Jericho returned is to help Bray Wyatt get the momentum to move towards the top rank in WWE.
Winner: Bray Wyatt
20-Man Battleground Battle Royal for the vacant WWE Intercontinental Championship
(Over-the-Top-Rope Battle Royal Match)
Analysis: Although Cesaro, who won the WrestleMania Battle Royal, is the #1 favorite to win the match, WWE might even go with The Miz, who is out there to promote his upcoming Marines film – same way why Batista was out there few months earlier.
Winner: Cesaro or The Miz
John Cena vs Randy Orton vs Kane vs Roman Reigns
(Fatal 4-Way Match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship)
Analysis: Cena won the vacant WWE World Heavyweight Championship at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view to become the 15-time world champion. Last month company accidentally revealed the poster of SummerSlam (next PPV in chronology) which features a main event match between Cena and Brock Lesnar at the event. The leaked poster leaves with two options. Option 1: Cena wins, which will further result in a Cena vs Lesnar title match at SummerSlam PPV. Option 2: Lesnar interferes in the match, resulting in Cena losing the title.
Winner: John Cena
